Wir hatten das Vergnügen ein kurzes Interview mit David Münnich dem Kopf des Team-Vortex-Teams zu führen. Hier das Interview:

PCGP: What is your part in the Operation: Na Pali-Team?

David Münnich: I have to tell everyone what to do, the theme of their map, whats gonna happen there, or what scripts we need etc...a lot of work. And I built a big bunch of maps too.

PCGP: What inspires you to make this game ?

David Münnich: That can only be Unreal/Return to Na Pali. It had such a cool atmosphere and scenery so we started our own
game on this planet, added lots of stuff and improved the whole concept of Unreal.

PCGP: How long has Operation: Na Pali been in development?

David Münnich: We started 2 years and 1 month ago. But we are not THAT slow. It took so long because we were making multiplayer maps inbetween. Thereby our mapping skills improved and we found our old ONP stuff too ugly, improved it etc. Then we got new ideas, added more and more stuff. Now we stopped adding new stuff and we just finish what we got. We keep our ideas for the next game.

PCGP: What particularly makes Operation: Na Pali so special?

David Münnich: Its teh l33t....ahem
Many people didnt like Unreal because it was pretty dead....nothing happend, you could only watch all the stuff after it happened and read about it in books or on signs in old temples...whatever.
Now you see the stuff happen, we have a shitload of scripted events, but we also have the translator msgs because they were always a big fun to read in Unreal. I found Unreal pretty boring untill I read all the msgs.
What else makes it special? You know, stuff like the friendly mercenarys, nalis and other humans who follow you and help you fighting. And its funny to watch the war thats going on between the mercenarys and the Skaarj...
I could go on forever, just wait for ONP and see for yourself...

PCGP: Which elements were the most interesting during the work with Operation: Na Pali, or what are the biggest problems?

David Münnich: Problems...the whole planing was bad. ONP started as a small mappack, it was not supposed to be so big etc.
It got out of hands. But now I got it under control and that will never happen to me again.

PCGP: What came after Operation: Na Pali ? Any plans for the future ?

David Münnich: Yes, but I wont tell anything yet...

PCGP: Thank you for your time.
